Aerial Angels Productions History

Owner of Aerial Angels Productions & Academy, Sue Porrett still recalls her first visit to the circus. Intoxicated by the woody smells of sawdust and fairyfloss, her eight-year-old self was also wowed by the ringmaster, clowns and Elephants.
But it was the sight of the graceful aerialists performing high above on the trapeze that really caught her eye. Mesmerised, Porrett took a deep breath and vowed that, “One day, I’m going to be one of those girls.”

Sue was a strong willed girl and ran away with the circus at the tender age of 15.  She joined the world-renown Ashtons Circus and was blessed to be taught by one of Australia's best aerialists, Nikki Ashton.  Sue's passion for her art saw her become a brilliant  performer, developing a unique act on the Spanish Web which saw her spin by nothing but her neck.  This same drive & creativity is the foundation of Aerial Angels Productions.  A pivotal moment in the young performers life came when Sue met another young aerialist at the age of 21.  Tegan Glass (nee Bryant) was travelling the same path as Sue as a professional dancer, at a different circus.  This chance meeting changed both of their lives forever.  Sue and Tegan put together a unique act, stunningly arrayed as white Angels with decadent feathered wings.  The name of their act was the Aerial Angels and became so well known, it was requested world-wide.

Fast forwarding 30 years, Porrett fulfilled her dreams and toured the world as an elite aerial artist.. Performing in major Casino spectaculars, Theatre productions and special events, Porrett lived the life that many dream of.
The award winning Aerial Angels Production Company opened in 2001, and has since grown to be a formiddable force in the events & entertainment industry.  Aerial Angels Productions enjoys so much work that our elite team of performers we choose to represent exclusivlely can be employed full time.

With a database of over one thousand clients and an ever-growing performer list of local & international artists, the only way is up for this Gold Coast success story.

Over the years, Sue Porrett employed hundreds of performers sending them to events all around the world but always wanted to teach the young her skills so they could live the dream as well.

In October 2008, the dream became a reality when Porrett opened the first school of its kind in QLD. The Aerial Angels Academy. The Academy, teaches Circus, Dance and Music under the one roof. An amazing venue for children & adults who dare to try something unique and life changing.

But her most challenging event yet, was giving birth to triplets in July, 2007.

Trying to juggle my Production Company, The Academy and my beautiful instant family certainly isn't easy, I feel like I have invested in a day care centre as well, Porrett says.

Life at the moment is a struggle but having an incredible husband and family makes all the difference. I would not have been able to fulfil my dreams without them.
